Sleep like a baby…while you can. I can remember my mother telling my babies this while she rocked them. I didn’t understand why she would say things like that to babies until I was much older. She was imparting her wisdom to them. Sleeping is part of our circadian rhythm. A circadian rhythm is a roughly 24-hour cycle in the physiological processes of living beings, including plants, animals, fungi and cyanobacteria. When this natural cycle becomes disrupted, sleep is disrupted as well.

As I got older, I was tired. I was stressed. I hurt. I could tell the change in the weather by the pain in my knees. Somehow, I became a transformer. Except I wasn’t some cool fighting machine, I was my own barometer. I talked to my friends and my parents and they were sharing similar stories with me. I wasn’t alone but had to deal with this part of the aging process. And it sucked!

About 4 years ago I bought this really cool watch that tracked how many steps I take in a day, how active I was, and how well I slept. It synced with an app on my phone and I could keep track of everything there.  I was surprised when my sleep pattern was consistent with 1 to 2.5 hours of deep sleep and 3.5 to 4.5 of light sleep. I was waking up tired and remaining tired through out the day. I never liked over the counter sleeping aids because the next day I would be dragging and feeling like I was in a mental fog most of the day. This fog would lift at about bedtime. And I was concerned about not getting the amount of rest a person needs every night. But seeing this consistent sleep pattern, I understood why I was exhausted all the time. So I accepted it the best I could.

I began using CBD oil over 3 years ago and loved the way it diminished my stress and made me happier, less moody. What I was really surprised at was how my quality of sleep improved. I wasn’t checking the readout on my watch as I had earlier. But after a few weeks I clicked the app on my phone for my watch and phone to sync. I was amazed at the sleep read out. My average now for deep sleep was 4.5 hours and my light sleep was 2.5 hours. I felt it too. I was energized and not walking through a fog.

Was my improved quality of sleep due to the fact I wasn’t as stressed or because the inflammation was reduced in my body resulting in my being pain free? I don’t know. I’ve had a lot of feedback from our customers regarding their quality of sleep improving when they start using our full spectrum CBD oil. The strength seems to have little impact on their sleep improving. I have one customer who only buys our 350mg, another who uses our 600mg, and yet another only uses our 2400mg and they all report sleeping better. Even if they wake up, they are able to return back to sleep quickly. I have had the same experience. I am able to go to sleep faster and if I do wake up, I am able to return back to sleep and sleep very well the rest of the cycle. When I wake up, I am not foggy or unable to concentrate. And I no longer wake up tired. My deep sleep is consistently double what my light sleep is.

If you decide to try CBD oil to help with sleep keep a few things in mind. First, find a reliable source for a quality oil, such as Mir’s product line. Second, less is best until you understand how your body will react to it. I have had 2 people take a full dropper on their first dose only to discover it makes them “jittery” as they put it (they disregarded the advice of less is best until you know more). Both took less (average 0.25mg) and were able to reap the benefits of this oil. Once you understand how your body reacts to CBD oil, you can increase or decrease your dosage as needed. And finally, turn off your electronics. Don’t sleep with your phone in the bed. Take your watch off that is synced to your phone. Turn off the TV. Have a book beside the bed, if you wake up, you can read and stay relaxed.  If you turn on the TV or jump onto social media, this will stimulate your brain. And boom! You will be fully awake.

I never thought I would get quality sleep again and that being exhausted was just part of the aging process. Sleeping like a baby would be a thing in my past but I was wrong. I have great quality of sleep and, during the day, I am fully awake without the mental fog that was part of the over-the-counter sleep aids I had tried. I am more relaxed and calmer as I go through my day. And, yes mom, I am sleeping like a baby again.
